| Biography |
Ryan Hagelstrom a.k.a. Tilzs fell in love with electronic music in 1995 and beginning attending rave parties in Minneapolis, MN shortly after. Heavily influenced by the Midwest acid sounds of Woody McBride and Drop Bass Network, Ryan began buying and playing Acid Trance and Acid Techno in the fall of 1996 and at the same time moved to Rapid City, SD. A year later, in the fall of 1997, after being frustrated with the lack of electronic music and decent parties in Rapid City, Ryan, along with a few college friends, threw house parties, which evolved into larger scale events, toping out at an attendance of 1300. This was the birth of South Dakota's first rave promotion crew, Zoop Productions (http://www.zoop.org).
In the winter of 1999, while the Trance scene was blowing up, the hard trance scene drying up and Acid Techno shifting more toward the Techno side of the spectrum, Ryan discovered a new and exciting sound called trancecore which he began experimenting with. Later that year, after moving back to Minnesota, Tilzs along with DJ Spree released one of the first stateside trancecore mixtapes called "No Boundaries". The sound caught on and Tilzs has grown in popularity since.
In the spring of 2000, after being frustrated with the lack of Freeform/Trancecore releases and more producers leaving the genre, Ryan began dabbling in studio production in hopes to someday contribute. Later that year he met up local producer Plastic Portal to work out some ideas. The collaboration was a success and the duo began turning out some head turning tracks and later decided to release them on their own American upstart label Madness & Mayhem Recordings (http://www.mmrecordings.com).
The future looks bright for Tilzs as the first few releases get ready to hit the world over the head like a bag of bricks.
